Olive Peplum and Tulle Set

A friend group of seven asked me to build aso ebi sets they could all wear again, separately, after the wedding was over. The brief sounded simple. It is not. Seven women, seven shoulders, four bust sizes, three of them still feeding babies, one who refused to wear sleeves, one who insisted on them.

So the puff sleeve sits where it does because every woman in the group has a different shoulder; the gather at the cap is generous enough to read on the small frame and structured enough to hold the larger one. The peplum forgives lunch. The bodice carries small embellishments at the waist that catch the light when she turns but disappear in a flat photograph, which is the way good aso ebi should work. The tulle skirt is olive on olive, soft and full enough to read on the dance floor without overwhelming the family photograph.

They wore them at the reception. Three of them have already worn the top, separately, to other events. The skirt comes off; the top goes anywhere. That is the trick to aso ebi that gets reordered.
