Black Peplum Top and Sun Yellow Palazzo

A management consultant who closes accounts at the partner level wanted something the room would still remember at the elevator ride down. Most of her competition was already wearing the navy and the grey. She did not want to be remembered for fabric quality. She wanted to be remembered.

So we paired a black peplum top with a strict button row at the side, six buttons in a vertical line that read as structure close up and as discipline from across the room. The peplum hem hits her hips like a sentence break, controlled, intentional. The sun yellow palazzo is full, pleated, cut from a weighted crepe so it falls clean from the natural waist instead of ballooning at the knee. The black holds her presence; the yellow makes the room turn.

She wore it on the day she pitched a forty million Naira annual retainer and walked out with the agreement signed by the close of business. The client remembered the palazzo six weeks later when he introduced her to his board. That is the colour working.
