Burgundy Short Sleeve Peplum and Cream Trouser

The executive does not stop being the executive on Saturday. She just relaxes the shoulders. So I built this for the woman who wants the weekend to feel like her, but quieter.

Burgundy short sleeve peplum, side ruched, the cleanest line on the body, cut in a fluid jersey so it sits close without holding her hostage. The neckline is a soft scoop, deep enough to read as off duty, modest enough that she does not need to think about it when she leans in to lift a niece. The peplum hem is short, cut at the high hip so the trouser does most of the silhouette work. Cream wide leg trouser, deep break at the shoe, hem heavy enough to not flap in a Lagos breeze.

She wears this to her mother's house on Saturdays. Her mother always says she is overdressed. She always wears it anyway. Her mother also keeps asking who tailors for her, which is the highest compliment a Lagos mother can pay to another woman's clothes.
