Red Brocade Corset Set

Red on red on red. I built this for a CEO who hosts the annual recognition night at her firm. She told me, the first time we met, that she was tired of looking like she could not afford to be the host of her own event.

So we built the set to host. The corset top is hand mounted floral brocade in red and antique gold, fitted close through the rib with twenty bones so she could stand for two hours of speeches without finding the nearest wall. The neckline is single shoulder. The skirt is heavy tulle, three layers deep, weighted at the hem so it stayed where she put it when she crossed the stage. We added a hidden pocket at the hip seam, large enough for her phone and the index cards she refused to read from but kept anyway.

By the time she handed out the awards, no one was looking at the awards. The whole evening was just her, walking from table to table, in red. The photographs ran on the company website for the rest of the financial year.
